John Bell Chapter, NSDAR Activities

John Bell Chapter, NSDAR gathers nine times a year, September through May, for fellowship and informative, entertaining meetings and to promote and support the objectives and programs of both the State and National DAR.

Among other things, during the year we:

  • Select and honor student essay winners, high school Good Citizens, outstanding college ROTC members, an outstanding social studies teacher and members of the community who have given special service.
  • Support the DAR schools and scholarship programs as well as put forward scholarship candidates.
  • Volunteer at and support the VA hospital in Madison.
  • Participate in activities honoring veterans and members of the armed services.
  • Sponsor Constitution Week and celebrate other historical events.
  • Find and mark historical sites and graves.
  • Help collect and preserve historical and genealogical information, sites, and artifacts.
  • Hold and participate in lineage workshops and events.
  • Educate our members on historical and civic matters as well as heritage and culture. We are not a political organization.
  • Support and contribute to selected local charities.
  • Offer support and friendship to our members.

. . .  AND, WE HAVE FUN! Our Christmas Tea on a Sunday in early December is a highlight of our year.
